XJTLU Fees and Scholarships: Undergraduate Study Plan in China with UK degree
Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) offers an undergraduate pathway for international students in Suzhou, China. When assessing an overseas university, do not stop at one tuition figure or scholarship percentage. Build a full financial plan, prepare sound academic evidence, and understand the conditions attached to every kind of support.
XJTLU’s official admissions page lists international tuition at RMB93,000 per academic year in the information currently displayed. The same page outlines several fee-reduction and scholarship arrangements for international undergraduate students.[1]
Start with the total cost, not tuition alone
Tuition is a major component, but it is not the full cost of study. Before deciding, separate your budget into:
- tuition and its payment arrangements;
- deposits or offer-related costs;
- accommodation, food, local transport, and daily needs;
- insurance, documents, residence permission, and travel;
- books, devices, possible studio/lab charges, and learning materials;
- a contingency fund for exchange-rate movement and unexpected needs.
XJTLU directs international applicants to separate official pages for entry requirements, how to apply, visa information, pre-arrival information, and accommodation.[2] Use each of those pages to create a specific list of costs and documents rather than relying on social-media estimates.
Four things to understand about XJTLU fee support
1. Entry Scholarship for academic achievement
XJTLU states that an Entry Scholarship of up to 50% of tuition per year is available to international and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan undergraduate students on the basis of academic excellence. To be considered, applicants need to indicate interest in the online programme application and complete the “XJTLU Entry Scholarship” section. The award is described as renewable annually subject to continued strong academic performance.[1]
The phrase “up to” matters. It does not guarantee that every applicant receives 50%, and it does not mean living costs are covered. Build an application with consistent academic results, programme choices, and documents; do not assume a scholarship will cover every family expense.
2. Early Bird Discount
For the cycle displayed on the page, XJTLU describes an early-bird discount of 10% of tuition per year for international undergraduate students who submitted their application and all supporting documents by 15 April 2026 and met the deposit condition in an unconditional offer letter.[1]
That date has passed at the time this article was prepared. XJTLU also says it may amend or cancel the scheme before that date. Do not use this date or percentage for a future intake; check the official page when you are ready to apply.[1]
3. Industry-Leadership Scholarship at Taicang
XJTLU lists an Industry-Leadership Scholarship for particular programmes at its Taicang campus, based on academic performance and renewable annually subject to continued strong performance. The page lists a quota of 40 and says that the award can be cancelled if a student changes from an industry-leadership programme to another major.[1]
On the same page, the final deadline shown for that cycle is 15 May 2026, so it should not be treated as currently open. If a Taicang programme interests you, confirm the programme list, quota, award value, deadline, and major-change rules directly with XJTLU admissions.[1]
4. The 2+2 route and progression scholarship
For XJTLU students who choose a 2+2 route and transfer to the University of Liverpool for Years Three and Four, XJTLU lists a 10% tuition-fee discount at the University of Liverpool. The page also lists a progression scholarship based on average marks from the previous academic session, with the displayed value being RMB10,000 for first-class marks and RMB5,000 for second-class marks; nominations are described as automatic.[1]
Both items become most relevant after a student has enrolled at XJTLU. They do not replace checking total study costs, transfer and progression requirements, visas, and living costs for each location.
Building a more prepared application
Confirm your programme before pursuing a scholarship
Start with a programme that suits your interests, high-school subjects, and career direction. Then check entry requirements, language of instruction, campus location, and study structure. Scholarships should support a sensible academic plan—not drive it.
Create a “best-case” and “base-case” budget
Make two scenarios. The best case includes scholarships or discounts you may receive. The base case calculates what your family can manage without an award or with a smaller award. If the base case is not realistic, explore alternative courses, countries, or intakes early.
Complete the application at the right time
XJTLU explains that the Entry Scholarship requires both an indication of interest and completion of the scholarship section during the online programme application.[1] Read every question and upload the requested documents before submitting. Do not rely on amendments or later additions unless the university confirms that route in writing.
Keep evidence and decisions in one place
Create an organised folder for your passport, academic transcripts, English-language results if required, offer letter, payment evidence, scholarship correspondence, and visa documents. Use clear filenames and log the date of every action.
Questions to ask before accepting an offer
- What is the current tuition fee for my programme and intake?
- Am I eligible for a particular scholarship or discount, and how do I apply?
- Can a scholarship be combined with another discount?
- What are the requirements for retaining a scholarship after enrolment?
- Which non-tuition costs must I plan for?
- If I choose 2+2, what are the fees, progression rules, and visa process for the next stage?
These questions help Indonesian families separate promotional information from the conditions that actually apply to their offer.

Important note: tuition, discounts, scholarship values, quotas, eligible programmes, renewal conditions, deadlines, deposits, accommodation, visa requirements, and 2+2 rules can change. The 2026 dates in this article are historical information from the page currently displayed and must not be treated as an active window. Confirm every condition directly with XJTLU before applying, paying fees, or making travel decisions.[1][2]
